The national cultural policy group (civil sector initiative) in Egypt presented to the parliament on Monday 19th March an outline of a proposed cultural policy and a plan for restructuring the ministry of culture.
The presentation was held in the committee for culture, communications and tourism, and was attended by more than 30 MPs, all from the Freedom and Justice party (except for two from El Nour party). The committee also invited four of the main leaders of the ministry of culture to comment on the proposal.
The proposal was met by a lot of support and enthusiasm from the MPs. The parliamentary committee decided to form a mixed committee composed of members of the national group, ministry of culture officials and MPs to agree on a plan to implement the proposal. This new committee will start meeting in a couple of weeks.
