The Summer School is lead by Balani’s, an organization editing books, the summer school has taken its roots from the ARTerial culture revitalization conference held in Dakar in 2007. To reinforce the impact of that conference, another meeting was organized in April 2008 by Stromme Foundation Culture Initiative (now Mimeta) and DOEN Foundation to bring Microfinance Institutions and the artist know more each other and the benefits they can get from each other by collaborating.
The first edition of the summer school is the result of winter school organized by Arterial Network in Cape Town, South Africa to which Balani’s, one of the participant of the meeting of April, took part with support from Mimeta (Strømme).
