Ettijahat is pleased to invite artists to apply for Sanad in the Digital Realm, which offers for the first time a framework to support the production and development of arts and facilitates discussions around the freedom of expression and the development of provocative works of art dealing with matters such as human rights, personal freedoms, the fight against the patriarchy, censorship, climate justice, and other issues that dominate the general scene.
Sanad in the Digital Realm responds to the needs of Syrian people, both inside and outside Syria, who cannot necessarily gather in physical spaces to reach audiences safely. Digital space offers a viable alternative, particularly for projects using bold and innovative formats. The central idea of this venture is to use digital spaces as an alternative form of public space in which Syrian artists can break free from the restrictive bounds of so-called “digital colonialism”, and in which female, LGBTQIA+, and refugee artists can work without suffering from discriminatory and hateful behaviours.
The support framework includes the following:
Production support funds of up to €4,500 each for 6 digital projects tackling provocative subjects (for a period of 6 months)
Digital platforms for developing, exhibiting, and discussing projects
Expert consultation on legal matters, cybersecurity, and other topics related to these practices
Deadline for the submission of applications
September 30, 2022 (23:59 Beirut time)
