The “Life” program of Ettijahat supports Syrian cultural entities. The organisations targeted by the Life Initiative and their beneficiaries play a vital role in the Syrian arts and culture sector and contribute to the establishment of a diverse, inclusive, and robust civil society both in the region and in the diaspora.
Given the near-total lack of freedom of expression in Syria and the restrictions Syrians face across the Arab region and elsewhere, this initiative is rare and enables cultural practitioners to exercise their rights to free expression.
In 2023, 7 institutions were selected and will receive capacity building and support from Ettijahat. All of the funded institutions developed quality programs that help sustain their work teams under difficult conditions and enrich public life through activities targeting diverse communities. All of them were also trained in building financial systems and governance frameworks, narrative and financial reporting, thus improving their management.
