Busara Promotions is a non-profit NGO established in Zanzibar since 2003, aiming to promote professional employment opportunities in an East African music industry that is connected and in exchange with other regions.
Busara Promotions exists primarily for the promotion and development of musicians and related professionals. Busara strives to uphold and advance the power of music and art in society, and the artist’s important role in keeping cultural traditions alive. When selecting musicians, the festival gives priority to women, young and emerging talents from the East Africa region.
Busara Promotions is proud of its roots in Zanzibar and the strong identity the festival has with these islands. At the same time, Busara Promotions is committed to building regional and interregional networking for African musicians and collective ownership for this East African festival.
Busara Promotions supports the rights of artists and others in society to partake in culture and freedom of expression in conformity with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Conventions on Human Rights and the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
