Mimeta is dedicated to combating gender inequality within its structure and beyond, recognising the need for active measures. Mimeta has sought to integrate gender considerations into all aspects of the program design, and implementation, as well as future monitoring and evaluation.
This will include ensuring or seeking to ensure equal participation and representation of men and women in all decision-making processes. For Mimeta, this includes ensuring a female representation of a minimum of 40% on its board. Mimeta also seeks to contribute to female representation and participation in our partner organisation, six out of nine partner organisations have female leadership.
The issue of gender equality is also of concern in the artistic initiatives of our partner organisations and is stated in the values of for example Ettijahat.
Ettijahat actively uses gender as a lens in their operations and consults with a gender expert in the design of their activities. This was noted in its work. Artists working with unconventional art forms are encouraged to apply, as are refugees and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and especially women in these groups. In the Ettijahat research programme, fourteen out of twenty-one participants were female. This priority in Ettijahat has contributed to the majority of their social media followers being female. (55%)
